Physics - Mechanics - Heat

This book is the 3rd edition of the first part of physics by Odd Kollerud and Sigurd Mygland, which was published as a whole by Universitetsforlaged in Oslo in 1978 under the name Fysikk, and the first part by IÐNÚ in 1981. The second part, which deals with light, electricity and nuclear power, was published by IÐNÚ in 1988. The translation was made by Valgeiri Kárasyn, but Sigurður Guðni Sigurðsson read over and added examples. From the 1st and 2nd editions, the main changes are that the book's metabolism, which is done on a computer, has been improved as well as all the presentation.

The book deals with mechanics, slight on materials science and heat As stated in the preface to the Norwegian edition, the red thread in the book is a discussion of the energy, both in terms of presentation and choice of materials.

The book is intended to cater to the needs of those students of the colleges, who study in one to two year programs or those who do little in the way of science As a result, the subject is presented in a rather general and simple way and does not require much mathematical skill. It should therefore be well suited, as a general basic course for students, who do not aim for further study in science.
